Twenty Questions with Porn Star Mercedes Carrera

1) What kind of girl were you back in high school? Who did you hang out with/date?

I was a geek (still am). Was in math club, chess club and was pretty socially awkward. Ironically got scouted to do commercial print modeling as a teen and did that for a few years so graduated high school early. I didn’t do any of the “normal” high school social activities.

2) Were you a porn fan before you got into the industry? Who were your favorite porn stars/favorite porn movies?

I always admired Asia Carrera’s intelligence and Jenna Jameson’s beauty. I wasn’t a huge porn fan but watched on occasion.

3) What/who do you want to do on-camera that you haven’t done yet?

I’m still lining up to do my first IR, DP, ganging and bukkake scenes. Looking forward to them all!

4) Who is your favorite male performer/female performer to work with and why?

I really enjoy working with so many of the performers! I don’t think I can pick a favorite, because I appreciate them all in different ways!

5) You seem to really love your fans and respond to them a lot on Twitter. Tell me how having this fan base has changed your life.

I enjoy the direct interaction social media provides. I’m grateful to be in the industry during a time where this is possible. I also am happy to have such a diversity of fans. Some follow me for my porn work, others for my free speech and anti-censorship activism. I love speaking with them all.

6) What’s your favorite position to get fucked in and why does it get you off?

They’re all good!

7) What do you think are “must-own” titles for your fans?

The fans will have to watch my various scenes and see what they prefer. I do a lot of variety of scenes!

8) Tell us about @ThePornCharity. How did it originate?

The Porn Charity came about after a charity event that was being planned was turned down by the original intended charity. After we saw the obstacles in place for adult performers to partner with charities, and we understood the opportunities available for fundraising using pornography, we decided it would be a great opportunity to launch our own initiative. Our first event far surpassed our original expectations and we will be planning more events in the future. You can read more about our first event here. 

9) What are the best things about being a porn star?

Having sex with hot people, getting to travel and enjoying my job. All major plusses.

10) What do you like most about BDSM?

I enjoy the interplay of domination and submission. It’s very psychological and erotic to get to play with one’s innermost desires to either be dominated or dominate.

11) What advice would you give a woman who wanted to be better at pleasing her sexual partner?

Connection is key- really being in the moment. The mechanics are less important than creating real passion between two people.

12) What do you most want to achieve in the adult industry?

I’m really happy with what I’ve achieved and I love being one of the working MILFs in the industry. I also like being supportive of other performers and hope to be a positive voice for free speech in the industry.

13) Who are your role models in porn and how/why do they inspire you?

Nina Hartley is a definite role model- her activism for the industry is incredible. Also, Dana Vespoli for her brilliance and creativity. Additionally everyone involved in the creation of APAC, notably James Deen, Chanel Preston and Veruca James and many many others. Also all of the wonderful women who contributed to the Porn Charity event: Holly Heart, Nadia Styles, Paisley Parker and Mia Austin. All incredible women with hearts of gold.

14) What do you like most about being directed by Mike Quasar?

What don’t I like about being directed by Mike Quasar? (hint: it’s a nonexistent list). I adore Mike- he’s one of my absolute favorite people in the industry and a friend. His directing style is organic- he gives us the creative freedom to do what we want and the ability to make each scene whatever we want it to be. He’s such a seasoned director he’s able to roll with the punches and is efficient and pragmatic with the way he runs his shoots. I really enjoy working for him consistently and always look forward to a day on set with Mike.

15) What is the best mainstream movie you have seen recently?

Best? To be honest I’ve been really disappointed with everything mainstream Hollywood has put out for the last 5 years. The most recent mainstream movie I saw was on a plane yesterday- saw “Lucy”, finally. Great premise and acting but to be honest I felt the ending and execution left something to be desired. I also saw “Hot Tub Time Machine 2” and to be perfectly honest was much more entertained by that one, though I’d hardly call it a great film.

16) How about the best porno movie? Is there someone whose movies you like to watch who is working now?

I watch so much porn these days as part of my job it’s hard to have a favorite. I tend to watch porn for personal enjoyment that doesn’t have people I know in it at this point (which is kind of hard to find unless I look to the foreign markets).

17) Are you into toys to get yourself off alone or are you a low-tech woman?

I’m not really that enthusiastic about toys. Many of them are overstimulating. I use them for shows but personally not as often.

18) If you could fuck any celebrity, who would it be? Give us your male and female choices.

Oh, I don’t know… to be honest I’ve gotten to fuck many of the people who would have been on my list prior. Porn stars are much better fucks than I would imagine Hollywood celebrities are.

19) What is coming up for you?

Lots of new releases, my first anal scene is about to be released and I am looking forward to expanding my scenes into the anal market. Also, will hopefully be doing my first IR scene soon also!
