A Field Guide To Nadine Velazquez

This morning, we got our first look at Nadine Velazquez's full frontal nudity scene in "Flight," and our hearts are still a-flutter about it. Of course, there's much more to this woman than a few minutes of boobs (and that ass in that thong that makes us want to cry), and we intend to extol those other facets most heartily right here.

Nadine E. Velazquez was born on November 20, 1978 in Chicago, Illinois. She says she was "extremely hyper" as a child, and when she was thirteen, she walked into a talent agency and tried to get signed but was rebuked by the agent who said, "You gotta come back with your mom!" She got kicked out of her all-girls school for fighting when she was fourteen, left home at sixteen with a man ten years older than her, and ended up at Columbia College in Chicago where she majored in marketing and was the first of her family to graduate university. Nadine remembers her school days fondly and thinks of Columbia as "the College of Bad Hair. Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, the average wind was 20 miles per hour. I don't remember a single great hair day." However, she does remember eating a bag of french fries every three hours; she lived a few doors down from a diner. It's fitting then that her first official acting gig was as a drive-thru lady in a McDonald's commercial.

Her breakout came in 2005 when she was first offered a role on FOX's "Prison Break" and turned it down for a role on "My Name is Earl." The character was supposed to be Russian, but the producers liked her so much that they rewrote the role. Nadine also thought she was a good fit, saying, "My character tends to say random things that are completely unrelated to the conversation everyone else is having, and I'm kind of like that."

She's made a bunch of appearances on TV and in film, but besides "My Name is Earl," Nadine's biggest success has been on "The League," playing the absurdly hot wife of resident jerkass Ruxin. Of course, that's not taking into account all of the critical acclaim that "Flight" has received; in it, Nadine plays Katerina Marquez, one of Whip's flight attendants. We'd like to point out that the very sexy yet melancholy naked wandering that Nadine provides echoes the underwear-clad wandering she did in "The Last Ride" in 2004 (seen at the top of this page).

But hey, Nadine has many other skills besides being hot. She's a dedicated actress and she loves pushing herself. Really, she loves pushing herself for action films:

I have a real taste for doing action roles. I starred in a movie called "Blast," which was my first action film, and I loved the fighting--I think I've got the build, the attitude and the look for it. I was carrying this machine gun which must have weighed about 40–50lbs and it looked amazing. I learned kickboxing and regular boxing for the role and we did lots of choreographed, acrobatic moves. Saying that, I was pretty battered and bruised after filming.

Nadine is, at heart, a strong and independent woman who's had to work hard, wait tables, and save every last scrap to get where she is today. Now this thirty-three year-old beauty is successful, married to a man she loves, doesn't touch a drop of alcohol, and wishes she could take time off to give inspirational speeches at high school. She's too busy for that last thing, but she tries anyway, and she gives us these words of advice: "Be more supportive of your women. Listen, don't argue."

[At top: Nadine is clearly good at walking around a bedroom in her underwear on camera, as proven by a scene from "The Last Ride" (imdb.com)]
