And porn fans, that is hella good news. It means that Kayden Kross' production company (co-founded with Stoya who left the company last year) will be putting out regular DVD releases through one of adult's most prestigious production houses.
The company's first release, "Sun-Lit," is out on DVD and stars Ana Foxxx, Elsa Jean, Eva Lovia, Karlee Grey, and Valentina Nappi with AVN Hall of Famer Sean Michaels, Manuel Ferrara, and Jay Savage - and it is frickin' gorgeous. Here's what Kross had to say about it all.
Congrats on your new deal with Jules Jordan Video! How will TrenchcoatX fans benefit most from this new deal?
"I think the biggest and most obvious benefit will be the more regular release of original content. With this new revenue stream, we’re able to spread our wings in that regard. Additionally, I think this will help our brand grow, which will also allow us to increase our production. We’re excited to finally be on a regular shooting schedule."
What made you choose Jules Jordan Video to distribute TrenchcoatX's product?
"Jules has a very established, very strong distribution network. He still sells at premium prices and he’s selective about the studios he brings on. If you look at the other studios he works with, you can see he has an eye for quality and diversity."
Will this new deal mean that there will be an increase in production from TrenchcoatX?
"Absolutely. Starting out, we will be releasing a 4-scene movie every other month, and our goal is to push it to one release a month before the year is over."
What have you found has changed most about your work creatively since you and Stoya founded this studio?
"I think I finally found the way to marry the style I want to shoot with the audience who wants to see it. When we made 'Misha Cross Wide Open', we had such a strong response, but we weren’t distributing it in the right place. Evil Angel is already such an established and recognized brand, and that movie was a deviation from the content they are known for.
When we brought it to TRENCHCOATx, we saw a real appreciation for the content from the fans there. In the studio’s first year we dabbled with some home-movie style scenes—which also did well for us. At some point, I wanted the intimacy of the home movie scenes coupled with the visual of the cinematography like what we got in the 'Wide Open' series. Thus, 'Sun-Lit' was born alongside the darker line we called 'Sacrosanct'. So far, the fan responses to these have been the strongest."
What about the reception to your work has most surprised you? What TrenchcoatX production do you feel has made the most impact on viewers?
"I think 'Sun-Lit' is by far our most attractive to viewers at this point. I was worried that if we moved away from the very standard sorts of shots that traditional porn grabs in the hardcore there might be a backlash, but thus far it’s been anything but. I think this content is refreshing."
What do you think people will enjoy most about your first Jules Jordan Video release 'Sun-Lit'?
"We threw everything we knew about shooting hardcore scenes out the window and started over. Rather than telling the performers to open up, I asked them to close it off. We were handheld with the camera, therefore we could find the angles. I just miss seeing sex that looks like the people want to be near each other."
What can fans expect to see you create in the coming year at Jules Jordan Video?
"The 'Sun-Lit' series has been a definite win for us, so we’ll continue with that line. I think 'Sacrosanct' is also something I’d like to continue—if for no other reason than to shoot Katrina Jade doing dark stuff again. With all of the titles we come out with though, fans will be able to expect this level of quality and intimacy that we’re bringing with our first release. We have our formula now. Finding that was the biggest hurdle."
