Cal State OSHA Held Another Meeting to Talk About Mandatory Condom Use in Porn

The State of California Still Wants Condom Porn-Only Shot There

The state of California's Division of Occupational Safety & Health (AKA OSHA) held a meeting this week to once again try to push the agenda of wanting all porn shot in the state to use condoms during production and to also use other "barrier protection" in scenes, such as protective goggles during blowjobs.

AVN covered the meeting held in Oakland which was attended by members of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, who lost their attempt to mandate that condom usage via Prop 60 last year along with members of the Free Speech Coalition and the Adult Performers Action Committee - including performers Siouxsie Q, Chanel Preston, Ela Darling, and Mickey Mod. Former adult performer/director Penny Flame was also in attendance and was on the side of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation during the proceedings, sadly.

The issue of "condom rash" was a big part of the discussion and that is really the most, in my opinion, compelling argument for why condoms in porn are awful for performers. A porn scene takes hours to shoot and having a condom on and/or used inside you for those hours just can hurt like a bitch, even with lube. 

Performers Julia Ann, Karla Lane, Riley Reyes, Nikki Darling, Isabella Sorrenti, Marcelo, and Ruckus, among others spoke in favor of the porn performers' continued practical safety proposals at the meeting during a comment segment while former performer Ava Taylor came out of the woodwork to speak negatively about her time in porn, saying that producers don't care about performer safety concerns.
