Indigo August (formerly known as Indigo Augustine) is back after a break from the industry, and she is as hardcore a performer as we all remember her being. She is a little older and funny as fuck. Oh, and did I mention filthy? Yep, very dirty, dirty, dirty. Here are her answers to twenty questions about her life and career so far: 

What kind of girl were you back in high school? Who did you hang out with and date?

"This is ten or fourteen years ago for me, so let's see what I even remember ... I was mostly 'that weird girl.' I had candy-colored hair, wore mostly black, lived with headphones glued in my ears, and constantly looked like I had the flu when I bothered to show up to school. I hung out with a little bit of everyone, in particular the stoner crowd, but my closest friends either weren't in my grade or at my school. Everyone also thought I was a lesbian ... funny how growing up in a homophobic small town does that. As far as dating, you probably already guessed it ... early 2000s teenage boys with black hair and stretched ears who played in bands, or the occasional drug dealer. Clearly, I had impeccable taste."

Were you a porn fan before you got into the industry? Who were your favorite porn stars and favorite porn movies?

"I was a Suicide Girls fan, and was into TS porn since early high school (I've known I was pansexual for a long time, since before anyone actually used the word—got really sick of explaining to people I wasn't sexually attracted to kitchenware.) Other than that, not so much - I was much more into looking at a Playboy magazine than watching a video. I like to fantasize, not have the fantasy forced on me."

Why are you shortening your name?

"Well, I left the industry for three years, and came back looking fairly different, so I think its a good time for a change, but mostly it's that its too long and I've always hated it. I picked it when I did my very first shoot for Burning Angel. Indigo, I just liked, and Augustine for the saint—I was raised Catholic (ha!). What's the quote again? "Lord, give me chastity and continence, but not yet?" It was supposed to be a joke, which less than ten people in the past five years have gotten. Epic fail. But I like the sound of "Indigo August," and if people can't figure out that Indigo Augustine and Indigo August are the same person, I will lose what's left of my faith in humanity."

What/who do you want to do on-camera that you haven’t done yet?

"Can someone FINALLY pay me to bang Miranda Miller? Jeez, guys."

Who is your favorite male performer/female performer to work with and why?

"I have to say James Deen. I've worked with him a few times, including my first ever scene, and he's always a great director, a flawless performer, and a great fuck. I can't say I have a favorite female performer to work with, I barely ever get to do girl/girl scenes! Working with Jenna Sativa for Brazzers was pretty damn hot, though."

You seem to really love your fans and respond to them a lot on Twitter. Tell me how having this fan base has changed your life.

"I'm an extrovert. I love meeting new people and getting to interact with all kinds of people there's a big chance I never would have encountered otherwise. I can't say I love *all* my fans, but the ones who attempt to troll me usually end up getting banned from Twitter after getting pissed off that they can't outwit me."

What’s your favorite position to get fucked in and why does it get you off?

"It's cliche, but doggy—what can I say? It hits the spot. Or if it's someone I'm really into, missionary, so I can look them in the eyes."

How was the break from porn? Did the time off give you what you needed?

"I didn't think of it as a break at the time because I was focused on having a family and going to grad school. I got offered shoots a few times, which I turned down. I still pro-dommed for a bit, then stuck to only camming and custom videos for almost three years. I can't say I needed anything from the time off, but I definitely learned a lot, this year and last year, about myself, what's important to me, and what I want from life."

What fetishes do you have that you think that your fans would be surprised by?

"Other people's feet gross me out, but I enjoy mine being played with or my toes sucked on (not sure how my neurons are justifying that one). I actually really do love being DP'd, and I mentioned this in another interview that hasn't been released yet—I really like blood. Only my blood. What are the best things about being a porn star?

"I get paid to be a dirty whore. Or professionally charming, or however you would like to put it (plus, I have plenty of free time to pursue my other interests and side businesses and go to grad school.) AND I'm my own dirty whore boss, which is a particularly good thing when you have chronic, serious health problems."

How has your feature dancing been so far?

"I've only feature danced at a couple of clubs. When I quit porn a few years ago, I had just gotten to the point in my career where I could start feature dancing, and except for one bad experience with an extremely volatile and unstable club manager in West Palm Beach, I really enjoyed it. I like to dance, I love doing pole tricks and one of the reasons I came back to porn was to hopefully get my career back to the point where I can start featuring again. I'll cross my fingers!"

What are your “must-own” DVDs that you think your fans should see?

"Hmm ... the DP I did for Mofos is a must, so is the AVN-nominated threesome I did for Burning Angel, and I would say the upcoming gape scene I just shot with Mike Adriano is probably going to be killer."

Who are your role models in porn and how or why do they inspire you?

"I can't say that I really have any. I've always gone my own way and done my own thing regardless of whether it was how things were 'supposed to be done.' I'm always going to listen to my gut before anyone else. My goals are also pretty amorphous, so I can't think of one single girl that I could say I may be trying to emulate."

What is the best mainstream movie you have seen recently?

"'Interstellar.' Or if indie movie, 'Faults.' Or maybe the last 'Avengers' movie, because Thor ... yep, I just got wet."

How about the best porno movie? Is there someone whose movies you like to watch who is working now?

"Like I said earlier, I don't actually watch porn. I look at the pictures ;)"

Are you into toys to get yourself off alone or are you a low-tech woman?

"I have enough glass dildos and buttplugs to drown someone in."

What do you like to do for fun?

"FUN? I HAVE NO TIME FOR FUN. But really, mostly I don't. If you ask what my hobbies are, I'd answer cooking, hiking, traveling, reading, and accumulating a vast knowledge of obscure horror movies, but I have little time for any of that. I run my business, go to grad school, am working on starting two second businesses and barely sleep. So for fun? I take a Valium and a nap. Or perhaps an occasional HST-style bender when shit gets too heavy. You can quote that." We did.

If you could fuck any celebrity, who would it be? Give us your male and female choices.

"Chris Hemsworth. Duh. (Chris? Hello? Are you out there? I want you to smash me with your hammer) and female ... hmm. Megan Fox with her head shaved, or Mila Kunis. I also have this weird thing with French Stewart making me horny when watching 3rd Rock From the Sun, and I'm pretty sure he knows it."

What is coming up for you?

"A lot of exciting things, most of which I am not at liberty to talk about yet! Keep an eye out for press releases from XXX Star PR to try to keep up :) I can say that I was just on Vivid Radio hosted by Christy Canyon and you can hear the archived show on their site, I recently did an interview for IAFD (fairly sure you guys are going to beat them to the punch, though), a documentary about 'raised on porn,' just came back from Miami shooting a new scene for Mofos, I have an interview this weekend going up on Adult DVD Talk, got offered a cover/centerfold space I'll be working on shortly, and will be participating in a design exhibition which will be published this month and exhibited internationally in December at the Shenzen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture. I'm also working on something very exciting with my agent, Shy Love, and just booked what I consider to be the best scene of my career. I have a final exam next week, then I'm going on vacation to Mazatlan, and the only other thing I can say right now is that I may be venturing northwards soon. ;)"
