Twenty Questions with DreamZone Director/Hall of Famer Barrett Blade

AVN Hall of Fame performer/director/Dial 7 band member Barrett Blade has directed DreamZone Entertainment's latest release--"Cute and Curvy 2" starring Brooklyn Chase, Jenna Ivory, Mercedes Carrera and Cassidy Banks.  In his long career in adult, Blade has received an AVN Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Wicked Pictures' "Coming Home" and another for his work in a threeway in New Sensations' "Erotic Stories: Lovers & Cheaters".  He shoots and directs for Nurumassage.com and for DreamZone.  Here are his answers to twenty questions.

1) What kind of guy were you back in high school? Did you always love using cameras?

No, not really I was a musician so I was doing the music thing but anything artsy I loved.

2) Were you a porn fan before you got into the industry? Who were your favorite porn stars/favorite porn movies?

Definitely. I was a fan of Tori Welles, Ginger Lynn, Savannah, Chasey Lain, Stacy Valentine …that was my era.

3) Who do you think shaped you the most into the director you are today?

There were a couple. I'd say Nic Andrews started me. Brad Armstrong is a big influence. I worked and learned with David Lord also.

4) What do you enjoy most about directing for DreamZone?

I like everything about them. They give me freedom to create, they encourage new and good ideas plus everyone over there are just great people. I'm lucky to work with them.

5) Who is your favorite male performer/female performer to shoot and why?
Males, I got a few. All because they are solid, and drama-free. Will Powers, John Strong, Marco Banderas, Tommy Gunn, just to name a few

6) What can you about your upcoming DreamZone releases?

I don't want tell too much. But "Cute and Curvy 2" will satisfy the desires of those who like just that! And "Sleeping with Danger", a parody of "Sleeping with the Enemy", starring Abella Danger will stimulate anyone that loves intensity.

7) What have you seen change most within the industry in your time as a director?

Just my abilities in both photography and as a cameraman.

8) What fetishes do you have that you haven’t yet shot or is there a particular kink that you want to put in a future release?

Legally? Just kidding. I've been lucky. I've shot most of them, I think.

9) What is one thing that you think that a lot of porn directors get wrong about the way that they create a scene?

Everyone's taste is different so I don't think there is a wrong.

10) What are the best things about being a porn director?

Honestly, what isn't the best? LOL

11) What do you think are “must-own” DVDs for fans of your work?

From Wicked, the AVN Best Vignette Award winner "Show No Mercy.” and "Bikini Outlaws." Anything from Dreamzone I've shot. I really think Sleeping with Danger will be a contender this year.

12) What is the coolest thing about being in the AVN Hall of Fame?

Where is this hall of fame? LOL It's just nice to be honored for the time I put into this business.

13) Who on your creative team really helps make your work into what it is?

My partner Eric Masterson definitely has a lot to say.

14) Who are your role models in porn and how/why do they inspire you?

jessica drake. I think she represents the business as I wish more girls did.

15) What productions are coming up for you?

A lot from my nurumassage.com site. The aforementioned DreamZone releases. And a couple secrets.

16) What is the best mainstream movie you have seen recently?

Nothing that's blown me away but haven't seen much either. Kingsmen was good

17) How about the best porno movie? Is there someone whose movies you like to watch who is working now?

I don't watch too much porn but Brad Armstrong always does good stuff. Hearing good thing about Jacky St. James.

18) What do you like to do for fun?

I'm always working. Ride my motorcycle. record my music.art, photography, shit like that

19) If you could cast any celebrities to do an epic sex scene for you, who would you cast? Give us your male and female choices and tell us what you would ask of them.

Can’t really say I have an answer for that. If they want to come over to the other side, then we’ll talk!
