R.I.P. Joan Rivers

Comedienne supreme Joan Rivers has died at the age of eighty-one and if you have not seen the documenrary "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work", take a moment to do so and see how hard she worked to be the legend that she will always be.  

Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, announced her death today in a statement to the media.  Melissa once dated Vivid head Steve Hirsch and there is a great clip above from an appearance Joan Rivers did on The Graham Norton Show where she discusses going to the AVN Awards with her daughter and her daughter's porn royalty suitor.

I like this clip from 2012 because it shows her seated on the couch between Jake Gyllenhaal, Jeremy Clarkson and James May making fun of herself and of other aging celebs (hello, Goldie Hawn!) and talks about the red (shaved )carpet.  Ever a family woman, she tried to get Melissa a date with Gyllenhaal,  People forget how she made fun of herself in favor of the jokes she always told about celebrities.  She was a very funny woman and even though she changed herself on the outside with all of that plastic surgery, the inside stayed good and she regularly supported the charity God's Love We Deliver.  Joan played for this charity on The Celebrity Apprentice and they deliver nutritious meals to the homes of people struggling with HIV/AIDS in New York City.  If you miss Joan and her comedy, think about sending a donation their way.
