BEHIND THE PORNO—Director Mason Talks About Hard X’s “Allie”

AVN Award winning director Mason is delivering some excellent hardcore through new studio Hard X and her upcoming release "Allie" starring former Vivid Girl Allie Haze looks like it is going to sizzle when it is out on DVD and VOD on July 9th.  I asked Mason to tell us about what fans can expect from this release in a new Fleshbot feature--BEHIND THE PORNO.

Allie Haze looks amazing here.  How did you decide what she was wearing for this movie?  

It was a collaborative effort from soooo many people.  I'm so awful at picking wardrobe and am always grateful for those that can help.  I did pick out the guitar case though!

How did you stage the subway stuff?  Were those people aware of what was being shot?

I had previously scouted the subway and asked riders when it was least busy and was told around midnight.  So, my trusty helper accompanied Allie and I into the depths of the subway around midnight and just got as many shots as possible.  My helper would sit in areas to keep Allie and I isolated from anyone that might get in the way.  No one was aware of what we were doing really.  One of my favorite parts is when the guy sitting down, moves to the side to let Allie walk past.  He had no idea we were shooting at the time.  

Where is that shot where Haze overlooks L.A.?  How did you decide to have her stand there?

As i got to know Allie more and more and discovered her motivations for this movie i knew there had to be a moment where she "stripped down" "uncovered herself" and I needed a visual moment to translate that.  I found the rooftop scouting a location, and I knew it would lend itself to the perfect moment for that sequence.  i know we weren't supposed to be there, so I don't want to say where it exactly was!  

Was Haze more or less nervous when it came down to getting the cock in her ass for the first time?  What do you think?

I think she was more than ready, and had a lot to prove to herself, so i don't think she was necessarily nervous . . . just wanted to give it her best.  I always think if you aren't nervous before a shoot you just don't care anymore.  so, I think it was good nerves, the kind that make you want to be great.

That lovely jeweled plug in her butt—was that hers already?

Oh wow, I guess I picked out more that the guitar case!  I picked that out especially for Allie.

What was the energy on the set like when Deen and Haze began the anal?

I was shocked James went straight to her butt!  No vag at all!  It was one of those scenes where you just sit back and let it play out, enjoy the ride, and just hope the incredible first 3 minutes you are witnessing, sustains itself for the duration.  It's like this dialogue in your head going. "please keep going, please keep going!  don't stop don't stop . . . how long will this go before we have to cut?!?!?!?"  It was such a rad moment.  I remember telling Allie after the scene, "you know, you really fucked up . . . you set the mark so high, how in the fuck are you going to exceed this 3 more time?????"   Well she figured out a way . . . outdoing herself in each subsequent scene.  I'm so proud/amazed/grateful of her performances in this movie.  

How did you decide who should be the other girl in the scene with Haze and Manuel Ferrara?  Adriana Chechik looks amazing here.

I know Adriana is fiercely competitive, but, respectful enough to not try and steal the show from Allie.  I remember this happening once by a female performer in another performer's showcase movie, and I've always been mindful to never let that happen again.  I knew Adriana would be down to be a part of something great, while knowing it was Allie's moment to shine.  I had tears in my eyes at the end of that scene.  I was just so incredibly grateful to have witnessed something that amazing.  There was a moment where I was so taken by what was playing out before me for a moment I forgot i had a camera in my hands and I was there to capture it.  It was like an out of body experience in a way . . . so mesmerized by what was happening in front of me.  I'll never forget that moment. 

Lexington Steele and Haze have worked together before but here she did anal with him.  Were they friendly beforehand on set?

Lex will probably hate me saying this, but, there was such a soft and tender side to him before he walked into the scene.  I remember seeing him kiss her neck and caress her back, and it just felt like he knew this was a special moment for her.  I loved seeing lex this way.  There is a very strong connection between them, and it was there that day.

How did you get that tumbleweed to blow by Haze just right when she was walking down that road holding the guitar case with the gun inside?

I love that you asked this question lol!  While we were driving down that deserted highway, stopping at all of the locations along the way (the haystacks, irrigation system) we saw a tumbleweed rolling down and started laughing because it was so random, and we all just looked at each other at the same time, and were like, oh fuck, we have to make this happen!  We chased it down by car, my assistant held onto it, while we walked to the perfect spot along the highway.  i crouched down in an embankment across the road while Allie walked in front of me and at the right moment I screamed "now!" and my assistant helped let it roll!  I think we had to do it about 3 times to get it right, but, it was major comedy for us.  Also, take a look when Allie is walking along the green fields with the sprinklers going.  

When we got to that spot we begged the farmer to turn them on for us and he said, "you have 30 secs and that's it!"  Allie got it in one take, and that's that.  We keep wondering how much that 8 seconds of footage cost that poor guy!  He had like acres and acres and acres being watered for that shot!  Thank you again Mr. Farmer!
