Twenty Questions with Porn Star Erica Lauren

Gorgeous performer Erica Lauren entered the adult industry at the age of 49 and at the last AVN Awards, she was up for Best Niche Performer. She made her debut on Girlsway recently. Get to know her here!

What kind of girl were you back in high school? Who did you hang out with/date?
"I was a very friendly person, and always had lots of fun dates with lots of guys! I never had one serious boyfriend during high school."

Were you a porn fan before you got into the industry? Who were your favorite porn stars/favorite porn movies?
"It’s kind of funny to me now, but I really hadn’t seen that much porn before I got into the industry- less than ten porn movies at that point. I remember when I saw “Boogie Nights” and my friends told me Nina Hartley was a famous porn star and I thought, “Wow, she’s beautiful and classy and a wonderful actress too!” I was impressed, and I thought she was a perfect role model for adult actresses."

What kind of scene have you found is your favorite kind to do so far?
"I’ve enjoyed all of it! Of course, the bigger budget ones are my favorites! And I especially like to work with female directors, like Nica Noelle and Bree Mills because they pay such attention to detail, have riveting stories and really allow talent to act and get into the scenes."

What/who do you want to do on-camera that you haven’t done yet?
"Hmmm…I’ll have to think about that one! I’m sure there are some wonderful performers that I just haven’t had the pleasure to work with yet."

Who is your favorite performer to work with so far and why?
"Oh, my…it’s tough to just single one out! I’ve been so lucky that I’ve worked with some amazing people."

You respond to your fans a lot on Twitter. What do you like most about talking to your fans on social media?
"Well, there’s so much social media to keep up with, and sometimes I get behind on that aspect, but Twitter is easy to me and short and sweet so I kind of favor it. My goal is to keep it positive, informative or humorous and if it’s not in one of those three categories, I don’t say it. I appreciate seeing the lovely comments, and often fans are aware of new releases before I am! By the way, if I catch a negative comment anywhere on my social media, I block and delete. I don’t engage."

How did you become a porn performer? What led you down that career path?
"I saw an ad, and I thought most people would laugh if I told them I went to an open call to work in the porn industry at the age of forty-nine, but I got booked for a shoot the next day! I’d had some modeling and acting experience and kind of looked at porn as “extreme acting.” I thought I’d do this temporarily until I found my next “real” job, I had been laid off and recently divorced, but the industry has been good to me! And here I am all these years later."

What do you most want to achieve in the industry?
"At first, it was just about the money. And I wasn’t even sure I’d want to make a career out of it. But as the years have gone on, the industry has changed, and I’ve changed too. At a point, after a couple of years, I realized that I had to own it and be business-minded about it. I have a membership website and an online store. It’s good to webcam with fans and Skype and talk on the phone and make custom videos. It’s about becoming the business and not just waiting for the agency to call about the next shoot. I love knowing I’ve entertained a lot of people and I hope I’ve encouraged others to know that you can reinvent yourself at an “older” age!"

What makes a great girl/girl scene?
"I believe there is a certain kind of trust that women have with each other in an intimate situation. As women, we know and understand our own bodies, and instinctively know in most scenarios how to touch and respond to another woman. A great girl/girl scene happens as the result of the confidence that comes from trusting each other as women and our instincts. It comes from feeling beautiful and appreciating the beauty of the other woman and feeling free to just let go and have fun!"

What do you love most about working for Girlsway?
"I’ve loved working for Girlsway and would love to work with them again and again! First off, they are a great crew and work so well together that it feels easy to perform. And the scenes are really hot!"

What do you think are “must-have” DVDs for your fans?
"Anything I’m in, especially if I’m on the cover!"

What do you like to do for fun?
"I’m really into living as healthy of a lifestyle as I can, so I work out with weights, do cardio, and love yoga. Hiking and just about anything outdoors is fun to me too! And I cook all the time. I try to get to the spa as often as I can."

What are your favorite fetishes to explore on camera?
"I haven’t done a lot of fetishes. I guess just about anything can be considered a “fetish” though, so maybe I’ve done more than I think! I’ve done pantyhose (and thigh highs, also garter belts) and porn that involved my feet. Only once was I dressed in patent leather, wearing a collar (and with two men) in “Somebody’s Mother” very early in my career."

Who are your role models in porn?
"I’m always motivated by so many people in this industry. Again, I’ll say Nina Hartley because she’s an outstanding person in so many ways, and on top of all the wonderful things we all know about her, I’ve seen her nail her lines on a scripted scene in one perfect take. I adore writer/producer/director Nica Noelle and I think the world of writer/producer/director Bree Mills! And I have to say that Tommy Pistol is an inspiration. I’ll never forget how hard I laughed when he hosted the 2015 AVN Awards, and now this year he won the Best Actor Award at AVN. He’s also a member of SAG and performing in mainstream."

What is the best mainstream movie you have seen recently?
"There have been a lot of good movies, but the first one that popped into my mind is Get Out. I was happy to see that it won Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards this year. It was very original for sure!"

How about the best porno movie? Is there someone whose movies you like to watch who is working now?
"There are a lot of good movies in porn too! I’m especially enjoying anything that’s Pure Taboo, because the scenes are sexy and compelling and a bit horrifying. Like wow!"

What is coming up for you?
"I’m grateful that I’ve been shooting a lot and I can’t wait to see “The Grandparents” that comes out on Pure Taboo on March 15th."

If you could fuck any celebrity, who would it be?
"Just one on my fantasy bucket list? Well, my top celebrity crush is Hugh Jackman."

What single piece of advice would you give a brand new female performer?
"I would say to a new performer to please be sure you’re okay with the fact that your scenes will forever be on the internet. They aren’t ever going to go away. People you know find out about it even if you never tell them. Own it, have a sense of humor about it and remember that being an adult performer is only one facet of who you are as a person. Be professional on set and someone everyone wants to work with. Ignore criticism and let your fans know how much you appreciate them."
