Trans star Chelsea Poe is on tour with Courtney Trouble through the Pacific Northwest this week promoting "Queer Porn Americana" - Poe's directorial debut over at Trouble Films. You can meet Poe and Trouble in Seattle tomorrow at Gay City, on Friday in Olympia (location TBA) and on Sunday in Vancouver, BC (RSVP for event details). Here are Poe's rockin' picks!
"Love Gang" by Whethan: I listened to this on my tour over the last few months and still have been listening to this song on a nearly daily level for the last 3 months. I always kind of fall for Brit pop to be honest.
"Use Your Delusion" by Greys: I'm a huge Nirvana fan and Greys are the closest band I could imagine to a modern Nirvana. I used to be a concert promoter and worked with them a few times, I still listen to them super often. They are a bunch of really talented guys from Toronto and cannot stress how much people should check them out.
"Ba$$in" by Yelle: When I was in London earlier this year I got introduced to a lot of French Electronica and Yelle has totally stuck on my playlist.
"DNA" by Kendrick Lamar: I feel like I'm like everyone else in the world and obsessed with everything Kendrick Lamar has done over the last few years. I think he's the artist of this generation that is going to be remembered for decades.
"One Last Time" by Ariana Grande: I became a really big Ariana Grande fan from hanging out with Courtney Trouble so much and just the general level of dirtiness of Get On Your Knees with Ariana and Nicki. Ariana closing the Manchester benefit concert with One Last Time has had this song in my head endlessly since, that she is such a strong woman artist is something I feel is extremely important right now in the political climate.
So be sure to check out "Queer Porn Americana" over at Trouble Films and follow Poe on Twitter to keep up with all of her sexy porn star goodness. Here is what I have been listening to and hope you are having a super week!
