Aubrey Is Awesome!
"Genie in a Bottle" by Christina Aguilera: "When this song came out, I would blast this on my CD player. I even had it on cassette. I think my aunt had to get me a few copies of this because I listened to it so much. It made me feel wild and free. I used to dress up and dance and sing around out the house."
"Any Man of Mine" by Shania Twain: "This was also another song I grew up dancing and singing to. I would go to my neighbor's house and we would blast it from her parents huge sound system. This song is still one of my favorites. I remember I saw Shania like literally 7 times when she had her residence in Las Vegas."
"Unpretty" by TLC: "This song was everything. Life growing up as a transgender in the 90s and earlier versus now is way different. I feel now it's more acceptable to be you and be who you are. This song was basically saying if you don't like what you look like you can change it.... buy different clothes, cosmetic surgery, makeup, etc. It soothed me after getting bullied and teased for so long; it was like my anthem."
"Do I Look Like a Slut?" by Avenue D: "This song was like end of high school/beginning of college. I heard it once and had it memorized by the 3rd time I heard it. It's one of those songs that's so funny it puts you in a great mood and brings a smile to your face. It's definitely a road trip classic."
"Glamorous" by Sheila E.: "This has been my ringtone forever... this is definitely my life theme song. Everyone knows I enjoy the finer things in life - fur before a man any day. ;) I remember hearing this song in elementary school and then a friend of mine did a performance to it in a talent show... this song is one of the older songs in my favorites because it's clearly a classic."
