This Time, It's for Comedy!
Much to our surprise, Kristen Wiig went full frontal in her debut in the film Welcome to Me (2014). I'm sure I wasn't alone in thinking that the odds of ever seeing a topless, much less completely nude, Kristen Wiig was somewhere between winning the lottery and winning the lottery for a second time. But alas, she went nude, and it was awesome. Now it seems Kristen Wiig is ready to do it again in a remake for the German comedy Toni Erdmann (2016).
Now, if you aren't up to date on your German comedies, don't feel bad. Here's the quick rundown from IMDb:
"A practical joking father tries to reconnect with his hard working daughter by creating an outrageous alter ego and posing as her CEO's life coach."
The father this time around will be the legendary Jack Nicholson, and stepping into the role of the daughter (originally played by Sandra Hüller) will be Wiig. Now the original German film is full of nudity, and I don't just mean boobs - we are talking full frontal nudity. And from what I have read, it looks like they are going to keep all the full frontal nudity. According to The Telegraph:
Nicholson is understood to have been cast as Winfried, while Bridesmaids star Wiig is set to take the role of Ines, who appears in naked an awkward, and much-discussed comic scene. Speaking to The Telegraph, Ade insisted that the nudity was meant to be "as non-sexual as possible".
The director said: “When I was writing 'he’s naked, she’s naked’ in the script, it doesn’t capture what that will do to an audience. A naked person just standing somewhere immediately has an effect…it raises the tension so fast.”
No word on when the remake will hit your local cineplex, but we are totally going to be keeping an eye out for this one. Kristen Wiig going full-frontal for comedy? No one can pass that up.
