Alexis Bledel Announced in “The Handmaid’s Tale” Cast; Edgy New Trailer Released

Gilmore Girl Alexis Joins Cast of Dystopian Series

Hulu has just announced that Alexis Bledel - known by many for her role on "Gilmore Girls" - is going to be playing a sexual servant/handmaiden in the cast of the upcoming Hulu series "The Handmaid's Tale". She will be playing the role Ofglen, the best friend/fellow handmaiden of series main character Offred played by Elisabeth Moss

The ten episode series also will star Samira Wiley and Yvonne Strahovski and will debut in full on Hulu in late April. The show is based on the excellent Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, and it takes place in a future where the United States has been taken over by an ultra-conservative, pseudo-Christian government. Women are forced into a form of sex slavery as a result of this new government's reaction to a nuclear crisis that has left the majority of the country's women sterile.

Fuck, I can't wait for this show. The sexual content and nudity in this given the storyline could very well be off the charts and this is absolutely one of my favorite books of all time. I really hope that they get into the Jezebels - the new government's regulated and controlled prostitutes. This show could really be fabulous. I don't have Hulu right now but oh, I am getting it in April.
