So I am pretty established as a fangirl of all things porn, and the AVN Awards to me are my Oscars, Super Bowl and prom night wrapped up into one beautiful, magical thing. When the night is over, there is so much lovely porn to dive into and analyze, dissect, and get off to. January is always a damn great month in my calendar year. 

One of the victories that pleased me most in this year's night of porn honors was Burning Angel winning the Best Amateur/Pro-Am Movie for "It's My First Time 2". (Check out my review of that here.) I have this very human quality in the sense that I like when other people see what I see in things and people, and this very specific part of Burning Angel finally got the recognition I believe that the company has deserved for quite some time. On the bottom of the main page of the site and on the bottom of pretty much every page of the site, there is a model application. Yep, any hot alt college stripper coed can send AVN Hall of Famer Joanna Angel dirty pics of herself and try to make her porno dreams come true. I love the simple, old school, true, empowering nature of that. I love the alt girl who wants to be a porn star can live anywhere while she is having those Burning Angel dreams and she can just take some selfies and honestly have a shot at being a star. That is such a beautiful thing, you know?

Burning Angel has discovered some hella awesome chicks along its way, and here are some of my all-time faves. The "It's My First Time" series is short, but Burning Angel has been capturing those first porn outings for some beautiful women and doing it brilliantly. Here are some (but not nearly all) of Burning Angel's particularly sparkly, awesome porn girl finds, and you know there will be more fabulous, alt girl magic pulses in the future. Jessica Creepshow

This leggy Bay Area beauty is still a newbie to the Burning Angel world, and really, I can't wait to see what or who she ends up doing. Could Karma have had a better role model when it comes to learning how to be a successful alt porn performer than Angel? I personally believe not. I love that Angel had an eye for what Karma has going on.

Jessie Lee

Lee was perpetually an AVN Award nominee for "Unsung Starlet of the Year" before they discontinued that award, and it is hard to picture the gift that is Burning Angel without her. She has only made occasional forays out into other companies' work, but there is enough of her in the Burning Angel canon to satisfy everyone out there. She was nominated for the phenomenal lesbian vampire orgy in "Vampire Cheerleaders". You can even get your hair cut and colored by Lee and I highly recommend that experience.

Draven Star

Star is so damn good in every Burning Angel thing she has appeared in, back since she first met Angel in Brooklyn in 2008. She recently made the move from the East Coast all the way to Porn Valley, so I hope that means we are going to be seeing her in a lot more of everyone's porno offerings very soon, but even if we only have her Burning Angel work to enjoy, that is plenty. You absolutely need to see her AVN-Award-nominated scenes in "Band Sluts" and "Vampire Cheerleaders".

Kleio Valentien

This Austin beauty starred in 2008's "Bartenders"—a parody of "Coyote Ugly"—and she has been a force of porn nature ever since. She was nominated for AVN Female Performer of the Year this year and she just won her very first AVN Award for playing the role of Harley Quinn in Wicked Comix's "Batman V. Superman: An Axel Braun Parody". Before this well-deserved victory, she kicked ass in Burning Angel's "The Walking Dead" parody and every other Burning Angel production that she has touched. She does damn fine scenes and without Burning Angel in her life, none of her excellent parody/feature work would have been possible.
