Casey Calvert and jessica drake Will Be on USC’s “Fifty Shades of Erotica” Panel

The University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts will host “50 Shades of Erotica: The Blurring of the Line Between Hollywood and Adult Entertainment,” a panel discussion on the adult industry at the University of Southern California on Wednesday, October 14th. Adult performer Casey Calvert, director Magnus Sullivan (best known by Fleshbot readers for directing "Marriage 2.0"), and Wicked Pictures performer/director/sexpert jessica drake will be the featured speakers.

Presented by the USC School of Cinematic Arts, the event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Ray Stark Family Theatre on USC’s campus in Los Angeles. Alex Ago, director of programming and special projects for USC's School of Cinematic Arts, will moderate. The way that Hollywood glamorizes, pervs out on, fetishizes, or seeks to deny sexuality in us all is interesting stuff. I loved this quote from the press release promoting the event.

"... Characters who crave sex in a monogamous relationship are generally applauded, while those characters who enjoy an abundance of sex outside of monogamy are generally demonized or require saving ... The discussion will also focus on how Hollywood often tries to push the boundaries of sex as it relates to puritanical America, while still maintaining an ideology based on sex as a dirty word."

The Amy Schumer comedy "Trainwreck" is referenced specifically later on in the press release and yeah, the author of the above press material is right. Schumer's character's promiscuity was definitely not seen as a positive by the masses even though Schumer's feminism is hailed all over the place. Oughta be an interesting night at USC.
