A Field Guide To Ash Hollywood

This past weekend, the world of porn (and porn fans) descended on Atlantic City for The Fannys, the glamorous awards show that gives fans the chance to award their favorite stars with titles like Most Valuable Vagina and Whole Lotta Love (aka Female Performer and BBW Performer of the Year, respectively).

Many of the award winners were pretty predictable (Belle Knox was a shoo in for Best New Starlet, and you'll be pleased to know that Lexi Belle officially has the most valuable vagina in porn), but there was one that gave us pause. Ash Hollywood--that lovely lady we've been lusting after for years--winning Underrated Starlet (aka The Who?)? Ash, underrated? Clearly, it's time to educate the world about the the attributes of this stunning star.

[NB: Yes, we recognize that there's a certain irony in being awarded "Most Underrated" in an awards show driven by fan votes. If you have enough fans (or, in this case, Ashaholics) to secure the win, can you really be considered underrated at all? But we'll leave that zen koan to be muddled over another day.]

Ash Hollywood was born May 27, 1989. Though many online bios claim Arizona as her place of birth, by her own admission she's never actually been there (she just claimed it as a hometown in one of the many scenes she shot). A lady of mystery, Ash won't reveal her actual place of birth--the most she's offered is that she grew up mostly in the Midwest, with Michigan and Minnesota predominantly serving as her youthful stomping grounds.

Like many of her porno peers (Lily LaBeau and Andy San Dimas come to mind), Ash started her career as a mainstream model, traveling the country booking gigs and representing herself. After two years of mainstream modeling, she found herself getting bored--so when an agent offered to fly her out to California for a different sort of gig, she jumped at the chance (and, thankfully for us, hasn't looked back since).

Almost a year into her porn career, Ash attended the AVN Awards in Vegas, and--in the debaucherous fun following the awards show--managed to meet Aiden Ashley and Jayden Cole, who persuaded her to stay in Vegas for one more day of Sin City excitement. It was during that adventure that Ash learned all about (and later secured an introduction to) Richard Avery, the brilliant and filthy mind behind Juliland.com. In addition to a blog (where, in between updating the world about what she's up to, Ash answers fan emails and offers important advice like 10 Things To Know When Dating A Porn Star), the site also hosts the Ashaholics podcast and, of course, quite a few photos and videos of Ash strutting her stuff (in the nude). Yes, she's a gorgeous girl and a demon in the sack--but her quick wit and and intelligence are the things that really get our motor going.

And speaking of that quick wit: if you happen to be a Sirius XM subscriber, do yourself a favor and tune into Vivid Radio Monday and Tuesday evenings for Tap That Ash, the semi-weekly hour of naughty fun that features Ash interviewing sexy women about all things naked--and challenging her listeners to call in and confess all their dirtiest fantasies on air. As Ash puts it herself, "If you don't leave my show blushing, then my work isn't done!"

Last but not least, no intro to Ash would be complete without a discussion of her tattoos (which, IAFD notes, include "script lower left arm; lips back of neck; text across right shoulder/collar bone; Indian feather on left side neck"). In her website FAQ, Ash offers an explanation of her ink:

My first tattoo ever I wanted to be something I would never regret. The writing on my arm belongs to a very special person to me. We've survived death together and so much more. The name belongs to my best friend. The lips on my neck I got in 2011 and they also belong to someone who means a lot to me. You may know her as well, she goes by Brooke Haven. The lips were done by her favorite tattoo artist whose name escapes me at the moment. The lips are true to size and she also has my lips tattooed on her left shoulder.

True, those words obfuscate as much as they explain, but as we said above, Ash is a woman of mystery. Frankly, we're grateful for every little bit of herself that she chooses to share publicly--and we hope that, with her latest award, there'll be even more fans to appreciate her greatness going forward.
