Don’t worry, nothing bad happened to them! They assumed that it was fine to take their tops off in Copacabana, but this is not so. Teensy bikinis with barely-there G-strings? Yes. Boobs? No. Hey, we all make mistakes!
And we believe that boobs can never be mistakes!
Anyhow, the story goes that the National Danish Performance Team was on tour in South America, and some of the team wanted to spend their downtime soaking up the rays on the beach. Topless sunbathing is permitted in Denmark, so they figured it was cool in Brazil as well. It’s a common misconception, really, one promoted by movies like “Blame It On Rio” and the (perhaps silly) assumption that Brazilians are down with nudity because of the skin-showcasing swimwear that Rio is famous for.
For the record, there are nudist beaches in Brazil, but you usually have to get there by car or taxi. Plan accordingly for your next trip!
