The cover was supposed to be revealed tonight on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” but a blogger leaked the image early and now we know that Kate Upton got the cover of the Swimsuit Issue for the second year in a row. Congratulations are in order: congrats to Kate, congrats to Sports Illustrated, and most importantly, congrats to cleavage! (That cleavage sure works hard.)
Some people are a little less than thrilled at the repeat rack–they were perhaps hoping for a new name to drool over–but we think Kate deserves to be honored like this, because she’s constantly making us hot under the collar. Plus, it’s not even like she’s unusual for having two covers in a row. Elle Macpherson has been on five covers, three of which were concurrent; Christine Brinkley, Cheryl Tiegs, and Kathy Ireland have all had three covers to their names as well. Does this mean that Kate is destined to be a legendary supermodel like Elle, Kathy, and others? Only time will tell, but we’ll have a hard time forgetting that cleavage in that parka.
