Wouldn’t the world be better without men? We don’t feel qualified to answer that question, and frankly, we feel cruel for even asking it. Nonetheless, here are a few of our favorite foxy female characters who could be having the time of their lives if only there weren’t so many dudes ruining everything.
1. Summer Lover: What’s in a name? Not much, but when you’re a woman named Sappho vacationing on Lesbos, you should be open to the idea of some girl-on-girl action. Such is the case in “Summer Lover,” in which our Sappho (Avalon Barrie) goes vacationing with her husband and falls head over heels in love with Helene (Lyudmila Shiryaeva). Sappho continues to screw her husband–rather excellently, too, and even with the use of a blindfold–and also gets involved with a few different ladies during her trip, but she thinks of nothing but Helene. Look for girl-on-Greek action at 23:00, 38:20, 50:20, 54:30, and 57:17.
2. Mulholland Dr.: What rules about “Mulholland Dr.” is that it’s one of the coolest, most disturbing, most mysterious, and most gripping explorations of Los Angeles/Hollywood/movie producing culture ever made that just happens to have some amazing vagina-on-vagina action inside it. To write the plot down here would give away too much, so let’s just say that Naomi Watts plays a country gal fresh to the big city, Laura Harring plays a chick with amnesia, and neither of those character descriptions stay true. Confused? Don’t sweat it. Laura and Naomi get cozy with each other not once but twice (under very different circumstances) and both encounters will leave you pleasantly surprised at David Lynch’s ability to capture eroticism. Look for these ladies at 1:39:00 and 2:01:00; you won’t be disappointed.
