Netflix Picks: How To Gain Carnal Clout

There are a lot of reasons why people have sex--procreation, boredom, happiness, money, you name it--and although we're the type of people who are all about sex for its own sake, we like to groove upon different people's motivations. By far, the most intoxicating and dangerous impetus is the thirst for power, and today we're looking at a couple of delightful retro films that capture people climbing the carnal ladder.

1. Nana: This 1982 gem--based on the novel of the same name by Emile Zola--is about Nana (Katya Berger) and her rise from streetwalker to high-class cocotte in 1860s France. She arrives in Paris a shy, naive creature, but when she observes how her innocence and beauty affects those around her, she begins to wield herself like the womanly weapon she was born to be. She becomes the most popular courtesan in Paris, gets set up in a nice house by a wealthy banker, tosses him aside to seduce a count, has the count mortgaging his properties so he can keep giving her money, and then she sleeps with the count's son on his wedding day. She's a typhoon of erotic energy tearing through the Second French empire, and you can see Katya's beautiful barely legal body at 6:00, 8:00, 13:00, 17:00, 34:00, 38:00, 1:04:00, and 1:24:00.

2. Little Mother: It's the semi-true story of Eva Peron told only as legendary sexploitation director Radley Metzger can: with tons of titties. Christiane Kruger plays Marina, a weather girl who takes advantage of a terrible earthquake to push herself and an ambitious Minister of Labor, Colonel Pinares, onto national television so she can pretend that Pinares is the only government official who actually cares about the plight of the people. Pinares gains power, she gets her own TV show, and together they steal the hearts of the people and fuck or kill everyone in their way until he becomes president and she his wife. It's like, sure, you could watch "Evita" for the billionth time, or you could check out Kruger's hot bod at 32:00, 41:00, 55:00, 1:00:00, and 1:11:00.
