“Black Romance: Color Of Love” Is Often Green

I'm not entirely sure what makes "Black Romance" different from Caucasian Romance or Klingon Romance, but whatever we need to do to get Misty Stone in a bubblebath or Rihanna Rimes just about anywhere is worth a try.

Those late-nire R&B videos, featuring dapper shaven-headed black men with tasteful earrings who would bed their ladies with a mixture of assurance and wetter-than-necessary kisses always confused me.

Who are these people? I wondered, not once pausing to think that I never saw white Lotharios like Marilyn Manson or Gordon Lightfoot tomcatting around my neighborhood, either.

Regardless, "Black Romance: Color of Love" is a beautifully shot and accessible movie featuring five couples who just look good together. There's Nat Turnher surprising Misty Stone with a bubble bath and an engagement ring (this is why she lets him get away with a creampie, I imagine), Mark Anthony squiring Skin Diamond up an alp to fuck her there (on a blanket), and the captivating Rihanna Rimes doing things to Prince Yahshua that make me jealous or him.

The beautiful Bethany Benz, however, wins the Unclear on the Concept award.

Dapper, earring-wearing, and shaven-headed Mr. Marcus escorts Benz across a carpet strewn with rose petals to a veranda where flutes of chilled champagne wait.

"It was a few years ago, on this date, that I met you at that party," he says. "Do you remember that?"

"No."

Maybe it was because Marcus himself was unclear on what the year was.

Anyway, "Color of Love" really fulfills its romance objective (and the final scene features Lucas Stone going at Leilanni Leeanne at an intriguing angle), even if no one listened to ELO even once.
