Porn Beauty Tips From Porn Valley’s Favorite Make Up Artist

Melissa—otherwise known as "Melissa Makeup"—is one of the top makeup artists in the adult industry. It's her job to make sure girls always look hot enough to masturbate to no matter what condition our skin is in, or how hung over we are. Melissa is in such high demand, I can barely ever get her to do my makeup these days because she is always booked, and she is one of my closest friends. She always has a whole hoard of porno girls to paint up every year for the AEE convention, and the awards show. This year, she is exclusive to the host of the awards, Bree Olsen. Anyways, here's a peek into the life of a porno makeup artist with a few beauty tips! Joanna: Describe a typical weekend for a makeup artist during AEE.

Melissa: Normally it's really hectic and I don't get to leave my room. Doing back to back girl's hair/makeup from 5 in the morning till the late afternoon, then a small break, and then touch ups all evening. This year I am exclusive to Bree Olsen so I have a lot more free time, and me and her get to spend more time coming up with ideas and creating her looks. So my schedule this year is much more relaxing—I do Bree's makeup at 8am then two touch-ups throughout the day depending on her schedule.

What references do you use to come up with different looks? Or do you just make it up as you go?

Usually for AEE and AVN Awards I talk to each girl about what look they are going for. Once I get an idea of their dress and the style they want I shop around for possible accessories. Then I use magazines, music videos and YouTube to help inspire the look.

What products in your kit are staples that you can not live without?

Here are some of my all time favorite products: Naked pigment from MAC is the best nude eyeshadow. Lise Watier makes a makeup base for lips and eyes that is amazing. It helps make the colors pop and last longer. Stila One Step primer is great for prepping the skin for foundation and evening out skin tones. My favorite foundation is the Makeup Forever HD applied with the Beauty Blender. Makeup forever's uplift is great to mix with concealer to highlight and mask dark circles or tired puffy eyes. Nars Chelsea girl lip gloss with Victoria secret juiced berry lip-gloss over it is my favorite for a nude lip!

So did Bree Olsen ask for any specific look this year that you can share with us?

We are doing classic 60s "Mad Men" inspired looks with a modern edge.

Are you doing a few looks? Typically, there's an outfit change for the hosts of the show, is there a makeup change too?

Every day for the convention I will be doing a new look on Bree. For the actual AVN Awards show, we will be doing one look but there will be a wardrobe and a slight makeup change. There isn't much time backstage for a whole new look but, I'll darken up her eye color a bit and put on a different lip color.

Any tips or advice for girls doing their own makeup?

To make your eyes pop, use a waterproof black eyeliner pencil (I like makeup forever aqua liner in #10) in your upper water line under your top lashes. It thickens your upper lash line and makes yours eyes stand out! Another favorite trick is using a colored eyeliner across the lash line (my favorite is Makeup forever aqua liner #18L) then using the black liner in the outside corners of your eyes to get that winged eyeliner effect. After the black is applied use your finger or a brush to angle the black outward. Also when applying mascara use brush to angle lashes outwards. Remember to always blend and have fun with it!
