“Big Lebowski” Parody Even Better Than “Gutterballs”

Both fans and non-fans of the Coen Brothers' "Big Lebowski" will be rewarded by its porn reimagining starring Tom Byron as The Dude; All the teasingly porny scenes of the original pay off big time in New Sensations' adaptation.

I am thankful, ultimately, to porn parodies because now I can use the word "context" in a review of an adult movie and it really means something. Not only that, but there is an environmental friendliness to parodies in that a review of "The Big Lebowski: A XXX Parody" allows us to use the word "balls" twice.

Any fan of the the Coen Brothers' "Big Lebowski" will see the love that went into its porn adaptation. From the sets to The Dude's dream sequence to the casting of the eerily Goodmanesque Peter O'Tool, it is clear that this filthy piece of flattery was made by fans.

I won't go into what's the same and what's different, what's left out and what liberties the filmmakers took with the source material, but as an example of how director Le Roy Myers and Company think, the scene in which fans of the original would expect a Chinaman to piss on a rug is switcherooed with a fortuitous blowjob. That said, the blowjob is delivered on a rug and the "Chinaman" is Thai-Brit Keni Styles.

Jeff Lebowski, also known as The Dude, comes home from a night of bowling to find his prize porn collection ejaculated upon by people who think he's a different Jeff Lebowski. The Dude and his buddy Walter chase all around Chatsworth to get compensation, meeting several other Lebowskis unrelated to him.

The other Jeff Lebowski is a Golden Age pornographer who believes Beta is making a comeback. In a sly bit of stunt casting (the other being the double-casting of Evan Stone in parts that were originally played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Sam Elliott), the elder Lebowski is played by Golden Age pornographer Roy Karch.

There are great bits of business amid sex scenes staring Kimberly Kane, Bobbi Starr, Briana Blair, and London Keyes (who reprises—and elaborates on—Asia Carrera's role in the original). But there are a few instances when the gang seems to be trying too hard to cover all the bases, such as when Donny (Eddie Adams) mentions that he's "knocking down pins like they were cocks."

"Lebowski XXX" is such a loving tribute to the original, though, that its occasional missteps in tone are more than accounted for in its sex scenes and its self-referencing; everyone knows that there will be comparisons made to the original, so the fact that this movie is a porn parody is often brought up in the script.

But who knows how this movie will fare with people who've never seen the original? I suspect that they'll be hooked by the first shot of Evy Delatosso's pendulabulous bowling.
