Grrrl On Grrrl Action: Burning Angel’s “Riot Grrrls”

If the heavy metal pussy party of “Girls Girls Girls” is a little too, well, heavy metal for your tastes, but you’re still on the search for some hard rocking all girl action, search no further: “Riot Grrrls” is here to save the day.

A tribute to lady-lady love (and, of course, riot grrlism), “Riot Grrrls” is a six scene DVD featuring the sapphic stylings of Mandy Morbid, Pixie Pearl, Nova T.A., Jessie Lee, Cadence St. John, Jayded, Envy Vicious, Eden Von Sleaze, Allister, Audrey Angel, and Asphyxia. (Yes, that’s a lot of grrrl.)

Diehard riot grrrls may be disappointed to learn that much of the riot in this film is skindeep: there’s a kicking soundtrack by Shiragirl, and the girls are punked out to the max—but not once do we see any evidence of zine making (and no one hooks up at a Bikini Kill concert, either). But it’s easy to forgive that slip: once the brief plots run their course, and the girls get down to getting each other off…well, they’re empowered enough to make any third-wave feminist proud.

“Riot Grrrls” releases today. Enjoy this preview gallery—and then go buy a copy of your own. It’s what Kathleen Hanna would want.
