Philly Bikinis Go Bottoms Only

As if we didn’t have enough reasons to be excited for the rapidly approaching summer swimsuit season, we’ve just learned that Philadelphia boutique Jack & Jill is now stocking topless swimsuits.

Granted, there’s no guarantee that this trend will catch on at the Jersey Shore (and beyond)… but we can always hope, right? Oh, and ladies: if you’re deterred by Jack & Jill’s hefty price tag, we know an easy way to make your own bottoms-only bikini (and we’re sure no one will be able to tell the difference.).

So, basically, Speedo has launched a women’s line to go with their men’s wear?

Let’s just hope the female wearers don’t run toward the body type of the European men that favour Speedo.

(& I know, Fleshbot does not take kindly to derogatory remarks with respect weight, but, come on, you know you laughed too when Schulze went into the hot-tub in Schulze Gets the Blues.)

Yup, that’s why we might call it a “Monokini” over here in Europe… – the etymology, however, of “Bikini” is not about greek prefixes at all, I think.

Oh, and I just realized another thing. If you interpret the meaning of bikini as referring directly to the suit’s two-piece quality (i.e. bi = 2), then how is it still a bikini when it’s no longer bi?
