Fight For The Rights Of Erotic Art On eBay!

Well, it seems our friend Dan Lacey is stirring up some controversy—a conservative blogger has discovered the erotic Faithmouse cartoon on eBay, and wants eBay to take it down. Well, we’re going to fight back.

We’d like to encourage all of our readers to show their support for Dan Lacey—and, by extension, for all artists who choose to use eBay to sell their work. Nudity has long been a part of fine art, there is nothing deviant or depraved about depicting the human body. And those who would take away our right to enjoy erotic arts need to be taught lesson.

Please, spread the word about this. Email eBay to express your support of erotic art, blog about the importance of artistic freedom, and let the wouldbe censors know that we will not stand for their petty, closeminded attitudes. Seriously, anyone who thinks that a picture of a fully clothed America Ferrara should be considered “child porn” should not be setting the standards for the rest of us.

meh, I really just can’t manage to care…. It’s just terms of service. They have every right to block whatever they like, even if for wholly ridiculous reasons that only a retarded monkey on crack could fathom. But, in the end, it’s their right to conduct business as they please, as much as it may irk us and ruffle our feathers.

The lesson to walk away with here should not be, “how to fight oppression and stick it to the man” but rather “here is a business niche you can take advantage of, since some upright, conservative pricks are having a wiggins over some picture” and make yourself some cashy money.

It seems to me like John D. Long “Your Humble Servant” was looking for something to complain about. And thus, his rant wasn’t fully thought out. As BeautifulAgony points out, the problem is whether eBay thinks Dan Lacey’s drawing is ‘Adult’ or not. See their policy. [pages.ebay.com]

But no one is complaining about these full frontal items:
    [cgi.ebay.com]
    [cgi.ebay.com]
So it looks like Lacey may be in the clear.

I emailed eBay in defense of Dan Lacey’s work and received a generic response. I wouldn’t be surprised if J.D. Long also received a similarly unsympathetic email to his complaint.

I thought of blogging about this but then decided the conservative nut wasn’t worth it and didn’t deserve anymore attention.
