Porn Goes 3D!

Over the years, porn has gone through many technical innovations—the internet! HD porn! Mobile porn!—so we’re half surprised to learn that it’s taken this long to see the launch of 3D porn.

Seriously, 3D porn? Isn’t that something that should have been done back in the fifties, when 3D technologically actually seemed like something new and impressive? Is there some reason that people have waited this long to combine the power of porn with the power of 3D technology?

Oh right, there is: nobody wants 3D porn.

    There was an utterly awful ’70s porn flick called The Lollipop Girls in “Hard Candy” that I saw at a revival theatre. It was done in 3-D. And it had mostly a weird absurdist plot, interspliced with some porn scenes. One scene starred the late great John Holmes.

    The 3-D? Well, let’s just say that it was very bizarre…

    Well, I’m a sucker for 3D. I bought the shutter glasses a few years back as part of an execrable dvd horror collection. And I have a set of video glasses that support 3D. I could get into it!

    3D technology has made vast improvements since the awkward anaglyph horror stumblings of the 1950s. I don’t know what the particular demand is for high end 3D in porn is, but I do know that porn has a reputation to uphold as often being the forerunners of new media technology. Hooray for 3D porn.

    I have a VHS tape from 1992 called “Princess Orgasmia and the Magic Bed” that was in 3D

    I haven’t seen it in years, so I all I remember about it is that the action took place on a bed that was on a rotating platform. I don’t remember what, if anything 3D added to it.

    Maybe I’ll see if I can find it.
