The Adipositivity Project: Because Big Is Beautiful

We’ve long held that the best way to create positive feelings about something is to get people to associate it with something they already feel positively about. Like, you know, nudity (who doesn’t like nudity?). So in that regard, the Adipositivity Project makes perfect sense to us. What better way to fight for size acceptance than by showing the world some hot, sexy plus size bodies? Okay, maybe you could get some kind of mind control ray and force the world to be more accepting of all different kinds of beautiful bodies… but failing that, we think hot sexy fat nudity is a pretty good option.

That’s ridiculous. To accept someone I have to find them subjectively attractive? Isn’t this all somewhat besides the point? It doesn’t challenge the underlying problem of non-attractiveness, in the eyes of whichever individual is making the aesthetic judgment, being regarded as a character fault in the first place. No matter how much they widen standards of beauty, there will always be people who will be near-universally regarded as unattractive, (for instance, people without relatively clear and healthy skin) and who are completely left behind by efforts such as this.

Promoting certain standards of attractiveness may arguably be desirable for it’s own sake, but it shouldn’t be promoted as some sort of social acceptance movement, because no matter what a person’s subjective aesthetic preferences are, they should accept people regardless of how well they match up with those ideals, except for those few, narrow areas in which such preferences are materially relevant.

This is pretty cool. The choice of leaving out the faces is interesting . . . to me, not sure if I understood their line of reasoning. But it is lovely.

  • I.M.B.Y What’s THIS for…!

I admit it. I have a low tolerance of obesity. I don’t find it so much unattractive, sometimes a larger curvy size is quite sexy (I never had a real life sex partner that was without curves). It is the foisting of accepting the unhealthful lifestyle.

Sure society makes many things that are unhealthy appear cool, so why not a persons weight? I can see the history of the logic
But I have too much knowledge of weight gain to ignore the fact the most people don’t even try to lose it.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want everyone to go crazy losing weight, I just think that in this country, if you aren’t paying attention to what you eat every time you open your mouth, someone is going to sell you something cheap, unhealty and fattening.
All it takes is some effort. More than most put in.

    Dear Ladies and Gents:

Hmmmm. I think these posts really explain why that there is a site such as this. We have a poster above who believes that “fat tolerance” only encourages people to be more lazy.

That is like “meat tolerance” only encourages people to eat more meat.

I admit, as an obese person, that I have a low tolerance of people who expect me to treat them better than I am treated.

I am looked at with derision, and many people are astounded when I open my mouth that I am bright, intelligent, and relatively happy ( and horny and earthy ) for someone of my size.

Now couple that with the “natural” discomfort that people that may have when they think of the sexual lifestyle of someone that is an out-lier or a pariah.

I do not ask that you need to enjoy looking at obese people.

I do ask, as another person, that you respect the people who DO post their images, and that your opinions and projections about the “fat tolerance” movement should be kept closer to your, ahem, chest.

    Have a good night.

I like this project. The hidden face aspect adds an aura of mystery. I love big women and won’t apologize for that.

…and I’ll defend I.M.B.Y.’s right to express his/her opinion, as much as I disagree with it.
