Ah, it was a drunk. Here’s one thing you need to understand about Kiwis. When they drink, they *drink*. They don’t do it by half-measures. I’ve been here for three years and worked at a cash bar at a race course on a Saturday. It was a big annual event. In between races, guys would buy two or three pitchers of beer for – say – four guys. They would finish them before the end of the next race and start over again. They call it ‘getting pissed.’ We ran out of beer on tap and almost ran out of canned beer by the end of the day.

None of this is to excuse what this oxegyn-thief did to Kayden. They’ll catch him (the whole parade was filmed for just this sort of contingency) and he’ll be prosecuted. It makes me ashamed for my adopted home.

@PCBHo: Please understand that I was not endorsing or trying to explain away what this dick wipe did to Kayden. There is no excuse. He deserves to be horse-whipped in the center of Auckland for laying his hands on her. I was merely trying to explain something about the ‘yob’ culture here.
