So yeah, that article in the New York Times today about hot Olympic bodies? In addition to all the eye candy, it turns out it’s the first time the Grey Lady has printed the word “XTube” as well (and no, that online mention in a Freakonomics column a few months ago doesn’t count). We’re still waiting for them to use the terms “bulgewatch”, “ass smoothie”, and “dirt pipe milkshake” … but for now we’ll take what we can get. Baby steps, y’all! (erikmaza.tumblr.com)

    Does Safire still write On language? (In my last coupla skimmings of the Sunday Magazine, I havn’t seen it; thus, why I ask.) If he does, though, I see single entendre as a worthy column theme. Prolly he’d insist on calling a dirtpipe milkshake by the more formal dirtpipe milk-shake, at least, if not by the elevated phrasing reverse seminal constitutional.

    inneresting fact: in lexisnexis’ index of world major publications, there are only 10 xtube references; the first came in ben widdicombe’s column in the daily news in april 2006.
