Some Congresspersons displaying a not very firm grasp of technology are pushing for an alternative internet that is completely free–and also devoid of porn. You might as well ask for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that is also free of peanut butter, because what would be the point? (xbiz.com)

    Porn free internet?

In a sense, I like the concept of porn-free domains. It would offer people a place to go if they object to porn so much that they can’t handle bumping into it. With such an environment, one would assume that the gov’t would ease up on obscenity prosecutions and that the right wingers wouldn’t protest on the fact that families shouldn’t have to run into porn– as they’d have somewhere else to go.

But, this is wishful thinking. The right wingers will always bitch, and porn webmasters will always look for new turf. So, as always, the market (rather than regulators) should set the rules.
