    I’m torn between my general love of all women and my strong distaste for anything overly hairy. I’m not criticizing, mind you but just musing.

    I’ve known women who wouldn’t stand for any hair at all in the pubic region and I have known women (not for very long, admittedly) who refused any form of tending on a variety of grounds.

    Have we been trained by porn that smooth is ‘de rigur’? Is a smooth pubic area just an attempt by men to fetishise youth and pre-pubescence? Or can an attraction to a bald pussy be explained by the desire to remove all physical and symbolic barriers between two people? Of the men who prefer it smooth, do you yourself return the favour or do you think that’s just a bit weird? If you were asked by your partners to wax or have a ‘man-zillian’, would you comply?

    Sorry for making the above a little deep, but it’s late, I can’t sleep and I am interested in the topic as it has been coming up quite a bit between me and MrsFadedGlory.

    i remembemer when i started buying my own porn mags and whatnot as opposed to sneaking peeks at my parent’s or feinds porn stash or whatever, toatally shaved was the norm at that point (mid 90s) and i loved it. once i was really used to seeing that, i still liked it but started to pine for the natual unshaven look at times. i pretty much agree w/sequoia tho, time we are living in are entirley too image conscious…

    Did anyone say the word gross? I think I should modify my answer because apparently my reading comprehension skill is a little off today. I thought the post said something along the lines of does one pine for the days of unshaved pubic regions and I, for one, do not. The no airbrushing idea is something I most certainly can get behind. I don’t think pubic hair shaving fetishizes (and I hate that word) prepubecesence any more than clean shaven men. They are both Secondary sex characteristics as it were. I would say that my preference would be minimal hair but if that weren’t cool with my partner I don’t think it’s something that would matter that much. And as for this shaving all my body hair, I feel as though I would be game.

    Anyway, I prefer to think of the hair we have as a leftover of the animal in all of us, when fur served a purpose (i.e. keeping crumbs and ants out of our softest places, preserving the pheromone for others to sniff out and seek, etc.), so to excise that part of the sexual equation, even on a screen, seems just silly to me, no matter what society deems as “kept”.

    @cheetahshine: I, too, grew up with the baldness of the 90′s, but seeing my first 70′s-era unsheared porno flick totally set my brain off, and I’ve preferred razor-free since.

    actually, there are other considerations, especially ones of identity or spirituality viewed in other cultures. Just as shaving even one’s legs was once seen as a lew act in Europe, other cultures, like Islamic men AND women, are required to shave all pubic hair. This is mandated as an act of sanitation apparently.

    Still, for something which is perceived as new or sometimes “kinky” in the west, it’s interesting to know that it’s be the defacto standard for over 1000 years in places often considered the most conservative.

    There are a lot of individual reasons I bet too! I had a friend who wore a particular style of pants (loose, actually) which tore out the hair all around his thighs, so he ditched the rest so as not to look funny.

    I’m a woman, I like my body, I love seventies porn… but just a little maintenance goes a long effing way. I feel awful saying this, and in part it’s probably the aftermath of food poisoning that’s kept me up all night, but I sort of feel queasy.

    I think its interesting that on almost every occasion someone posts pictures about women with pubic hair, a number of people MUST respond to state how gross they think it is.

    I’ve been both shaved and hairy through the naked on the net industry and I really don’t understand why people feel the need to force a certain standard on someone else. I prefer hairy, its easy to maintain, I do trim, and I prefer women with natural pubic hair regions, to me its sexier, but I have also been with women who are shaved.

    But, I wouldn’t ever feel the need to make a point and try and force everyone to follow my “guidelines” about what I think is sexy on a woman, I’d never go to a shaved picture and post a zillion comments on how I think the bald look is really perverse and childish.

    Anyways, I think people should just let people be. Have respect for the women that have the courage to bare it all, no makeup, no razors, no silicone, no dye. Just real fucking women avoiding societal pressures of unrealistic beauty standards, imagine that.

    @hatey: On occasion of off-roading in the hairiest pubis I have had, to date, the next morning, I actually coughed up a hairball. I was having a coffee from a local roaster, here in flyover country (hint: my state’s football team is currently held captive), & damned if I didn’t practically spit it up, followed by strands of pubic hair. Thing is, though, while the gutteral noise attendent the passing of the coiffure grated, the idea of it only heightens my reminiscence. The only odd thing, too, is I didn’t notice any undue accumulation of pubes in my digestive tract, during the act. Overall, though, I enjoyed it.
