2008_03_12_kristen.jpgThe New York Times outs identifies the 22-year-old aspiring singer known as “Kristen” who found herself at the epicenter of the brouhaha surrounding Eliot Spitzer this week. At least now we know one reason why she turned to escorting — after listening to that track on her MySpace page (you know, the one with what the Times called “dated slang”), we doubt her vocal career would’ve made her much money anyway.     @indiepixels: Escorting and porn performing are two completely different careers, with different hours, regulations, etc etc etc. There are many reasons why someone might choose porn over escorting, including:

    - Porn performers work with screened partners who are guaranteed to have been recently tested for STIs/HIV, escorts may have to screen their own clients, and are unable to guarantee STI status (though, of course, escorts may have the option of using a condom, which most porn performers do not).e

    - Porn is a legal profession. There are a lot of benefits to this, but one that may not be immediately obvious is that porn performers do not have to worry as much come tax time.

    - A porn performer in good standing has steady work, there is no guarantee that that will be the case for an escort.

    Actually she probably got less than half of the $4300 because typically 50% goes to the escort service and 10% goes to the booking agency.
    Personally I think she’s hot and I’m glad she got well paid for taking down a politician & a hypocrite. Sex work should be legal and women who want to do it ought to be treated well and paid well.

    Our beloved porn starlets are going to figure out they are in the wrong end of the business. I mean a “decent” looking chick can get up to 5k an hour blowing some bald rich slob. The porn girls gotta think…why spend all day getting their assholes wrecked shooting a scene and get less than half as much?
    That’s not to say that some of the porn performers aren’t doing the escort thing already. But if I were a porn starlet, I’d would do so serious thinking about starting a “High End” escort service. Yeah, I know, it’s against the law but…………..
    I mean, how many guys wouldn’t want “I banged a pornstar” on their bragging list? LOL!!!
