Texas Sex Toy Ban Overturned

2008_02_14_texas.jpgIt’s definitely going to be a happy Valentine’s Day for the good horny people of Texas: the Lone Star State’s infamous sex toy ban has finally been overturned. After years of needless meddling in people’s sex lives, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the ban — which made it a crime to sell sex toys shaped like human genitalia — was in violation of the 14th Amendment, also known as the right to privacy.

Interestingly enough, Mississippi and Alabama are also within the jurisdiction of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, so we’ll be interested to see how this ruling affects the former’s groundbreaking investigative journalism.

    Thank goodness. Texas also had a restriction, until a few years ago, on transport of adult materials, i.e. mags, dvds, etc., but maybe an upswing in the popularity of manga convinced them otherwise. In high school, it felt like the Bermuda Triangle of pornography.
