America’s Next Top Super Idol Presents: “I Want To Fuck You”

We have know idea where, when or how this clip came into existence and we don’t even particularly care. (Though anyone with knowledge should definitely enlighten us in the comments.) All we know is that if we have to sit through one more round of amateur hacks wailing “I Believe I Can Fly” in front of an increasingly agitated Simon Cowell, things will get very ugly around here. Why can’t we just anoint this charming fellow our next musical superstar? He’s got the piano chops, cheerful stage presence, a gift for lyrics, and you could broadcast an entire satellite radio station from his ears. (Those can’t be real, can they? They might be!) If this isn’t a Top 40 hit by the end of the month, we’re throwing out our iPods and going back to vinyl.

That is Dutch comedian Wim de Bie. Also viewable at:

The subtitles are in Dutch, and not a translation of the actual text. Recorded around 1975, I guess.

This is Wim de Bie, a well-known Dutch “cabaretier” (Dutch cabaret is like stand-up comedy, but with serious/emotional content as well, and the occasional musical number).

The joke here is that the Dutch subtitles blatantly do not match the song at all. When he sings “I will fuck you in the morning / fuck you late at night”, for example, the subtitles read “Oh, you’re so pretty / laying there in the hay”, and in the first chorus “I want to fuck you” is translated with “I like you”.

The big ears (yeah, they’re fake) are probably in parody of Pieter van Vollenhoven, the husband of Princess Margriet — the name “mr. P.” hints at that as well. A vintage clip from the 70s (or early 80s, hard to tell).

De Bie is a man of the times, and he has his own blog now (Dutch only) at [bieslog.vpro.nl]

  • I was blocked unfairly.

    LOL!

haha, haven’t seen that in a long time. It’s a song by a Dutch comedian called Wim de Bie.

The funniest part is the subtitles. They translate “I want to fuck you” as “I kinda like you”.

This is Dutch comedian Wim de Bie. This was a parody on a member of the Dutch Royal house, mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven ([en.wikipedia.org]). I’m not sure but it is at least 25 years old. mr. van Vollenhoven is a little famous for his piano career.
