The Sexies: Sex-Positive Journalism Awards

2007_11_08_writing.jpgWe’re not sure what you call a group of sex-positive writers (A gaggle? A slippery fistful?), but it seems a cabal of the nation’s most esteemed have convened in some secret fortress of sex-negative doom to create The Sexies: The 2008 Sex-Positive Journalism Awards. The superpower judges are heavy-hitters, ranging from sex educators like Carol Queen and Dan Savage to notorious pro-sex, pro-porn activists Marty Klein and Judith Levine, hopefully coming up with some sort of doomsday testes-shrink-ray to be used on the likes of Bill O’Reilly and his fundie fanboys. On the serious side, they’re now taking submissions and donations, with 2007′s winners to be announced next year. They explain “sex-positive journalism” in detail on their site, but we just want to know—do our random acts of sex-positive LiveJournalism count?

I tried to Donate, but when filling out the donation info an error occured. How can I help if you won’t let me?

In reference to this week’s column for the Chronicle @ SF Gate, Not All Butt Plugs Should Glow in the Dark — the Destiny’s Child lyric was on the front page of the Chronicle today sending people to read my column, an excellent surprise. (Thank you!)

They should certainly count your random acts of sex positive LiveJournalism.
Not only are you guys/gals sex-positive but just plain positive. A real departure from the other Gawker sites, which I love, but after awhile the negativity and snarkiness can get you down. Fleshbot is a worthwhile surf (for adults, of course) just for the non-critical, upbeat atmosphere.
