John Peri’s Overabundant Nudes

2007_04_19_johnperi.jpg

Some photographers aren’t as generous as others when it comes sharing their work online: they throw up a few low-res sample photos and a call it day. John Peri is not one of those photographers. His gallery page on photographer warehouse Photo.net has over 1,000 images of all different stripes—color, black and white, studio, outdoor, artistic manipulations and more. Nearly all of them, of course, focus on beautiful nude women. Even though he uses professional models, Peri looks for the “girl next door” and tries to capture them in relaxed, quiet moments as opposed to more flashy, pin-up style images. Good luck sorting through them all, however, since you’re going to need to set aside a good chunk of your day to get through the whole collection. It’s proof positive that you can never have too much of a good thing.

I agree with freedom of the press. I would fight for it to defend your right to give your opinion on these pages, though I resent profoundly you reproducing my picture without my permission.. However, you must get your facts right, or you are just writing nonsense and slander.
Over the last twenty years, I have worked with seven “professional models” (professional inasmuch as they were paid, six to seven aspiring models that received prints and a CD in exchange for posing and well over 200 girls that have nothing to do with modelling. My work with “professionals” began less than 5 months ago!
I call my models “the girl next door”, you can call them what you like, they are students, doctors, economists, lawyers etc., but over 95 % are not professional models, not even aspiring ones.
Now somebody that runs a porno image critique site that doesn’t like my work suits me just fine. We also all have a right to like what we do.
Well, this is a test for your belief in freedom of expression. Let’s see if you believe in other’s rights too.

Our apologies for getting the facts regarding your models mixed up (guess we should’ve read your artist statement more closely) – but whereever did you get the idea that we didn’t like your work? We wouldn’t have told our readers about it if we didn’t think it was worth sharing – there’s way too much crappy stuff out there to make fun of if that’s all we wanted to do.

Well, I guess I misunderstood the tone .. fair enough … why don’t you just remove both remarks then and we let things be … :-)
