RIP Liz Renay

2007_01_24_lizrenay.jpg

Liz Renay, the former showgirl and stripper who started her career winning a Marilyn Monroe lookalike contest and who became infamous for her involvement with unsavory characters while remaining quite the delectable item herself, died earlier this week in Las Vegas at age 80. Author of the cult classic memoir “My Face For The World To See” as well as dirty tell-all “My First 2000 Men”, star of John Waters’ “Desperate Living” (where she uttered the immortal line “I sleep in the room right next to you … naked!“), and convicted perjurer, Renay knew how to get mixed up with exactly the right people. We have to admit we’re a little jealous of her exploits, which also included streaking down Hollywood Boulevard and which would make a great biopic someday. They sure don’t make ‘em like they used to. – AR/JD

Oh Jesus, that’s sad. I just watched “Desperate Living” for the nth time last weekend, & marveled at the wondrous Ms. Renay, as always. Peace out, Liz.

btw, apparently at one time Todd Oldham was interested in a biopic, but I don’t think anything ever came of it.
