I’m not sure when the tradition of advertising auto parts using sexy, half-naked models began (though I’m sure there’s someone out there who can tell me). But I can tell you that the models in each year’s eagerly awaited Pirelli Calendar aren’t your father’s garage girls. Or at least they weren’t my father’s when he was moonlighting at a service station. This is the kind of pinup calendar I imagine was in the garage at the Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Maserati dealership I’d pass on the way to school: severe lines softened by relaxed curves with a not-so-subtle fetishistic appeal.
