Even though it largely consists of acid-trip-colored genital closeups (both male and female) and artsy penetration shots, the work of German photographer Manuel Laval goes far beyond the usual conventions of pornography: “Lights, colors, structures and rhythm are used for the creation of his surreal intense works … It gives you the feeling that you’re almost part of the creation process. It does not have the distance in usual erotica art we are used to.”
